Pre-requisites
No.
Objectives
. Understanding the most important concepts in multivariate statistics; . Oral and written communication skills concerning work done within the scope of statistical analysis; . Enhancing skills on the application of statistics in empirical research.
Program
1. Regression analysis ? Correlation and regression ? Simple linear regression ? Multiple linear regression
2: Discrete choice models ? Discrete choice models vs linear regression models ? Model specification ? Estimation and interpretation of results
3: Experimental analysis in management research (Conjoint analysis) ? Experimental design and model specification ? Data collection ? Model estimation and validation ? Applications in management sciences
Evaluation Method
The evaluation consists in an individual written report to deliver at the end of the course (100%). The work is a critical analysis of an empirical paper focused on quantitative and empirical issues. The evaluation can be made through a final examination.
Teaching Method
Doctoral students will be encouraged to search and read more advanced and specific references on the topics of their own research. Furthermore, students will be motivated in the use of the resources available at ISCTE in the search of scientific articles suited for their own research and illustrations of potential benchmarks in the use of statistical methods in the field of management sciences.
