Objectives The curricular unit Analysis Indicators aims to provide students with skills for evaluating and using official statistics sources with reference to the scientific research and writing of their respective products.  By carrying out practical activities with the use of computers and the internet, this  provide students the skills to knowledgeably read, interpret and use the statistics available in several key areas.
Program PC1. The national statistical system and the international agencies (National Institute of Statistics; UN bodies, Eurostat, OECD); Methods of information collection.
PC2. Population Census and demographic statistics;
PC3. Education: Education system, school censuses and qualifications of the population;
PC4. GDP, income, social protection and social inequalities;
PC5. Work, employment and professional groups;
PC5. Science, technology and knowledge society;
PC6. Composite indicators: human development index;
PC7. From statistical indicators to sociological research: the articulation of official statistics with the use of international databases Eurobarometer, EVS, IPPS, ESS.
Evaluation Method The assessment comprises two systems: 1) continuous, 2) final.
1) Two  assessment elements will be used:  a presentation in class (30% weight) and an essay (70% weight). This assessment scheme presupposes a minimum attendance and punctuality of 70% and it will reveal the written and oral skills, the quality of the research made and the acquired skills.
2) Students who opt for the final evaluation may take the 1 st or 2 nd season.
Teaching Method All sessions will Theoretical-Practical (20 contact hours) with a  lecture by the teacher and an afterwards completion of a small practical exercise. The tutorial (1h contact) is intended to clarify questions and preparation of assessment tools:
A presentation in class (20 hours of autonomous work): 4 hours of reading, 8 hours of 8 hours of research and presentation preparation.
A short essay (maximum 10 pages): 19 hours reading, 40 hours of research, writing 50 hours.
