Objectives The objective of this course is to make an introduction to the main theoretical concepts and tools applied in the strategic management of organizations. This objective is split into the following intermediate objectives:
? Develop the concepts inherent to the strategic management process, especially in the application perspective of companies in their interaction with the environment;
? Provide the knowledge of the strategic management process preparation;
? Ensure the capability of adoption of a systemic approach in strategic decision models, namely in the set up of the Vision, Mission and Strategic Objectives;
? Adequately use competitive and directional Global Strategies definition tools;
? Realize the importance of control and feedback in strategic planning and management.

Evaluation Method The grading system includes:
?Group work (1st half of course) ? 25%
?Cases Preparation and Discussion ? 25%
?Final Exam - 40%
?Class participation - 10%
This global grading system requires from students a rate of attendance to classes of at least 80%; those unable to meet this benchmark will fail and be allowed to attend the re-sitting exam in order to earn approval in the course.


To be considered passed, the student has to achieve the minimum of 8 (eight) values in the exam.
Teaching Method For this competencies? acquisition, there will be used a set of teaching methods, including:
1. theoretical lectures; to the presentation of the theoretical reference frames;
2. case analysis and discussion, and thought and discussion about the practical application of the theoretical tools taught in classroom, that allow the know-how of the above mentioned competencies.
