Since year 2016/2017
Pre-requisites Registration as a user of the ISCTE-IUL's computer network with an active login (username and password).
Basic knowledge and regular usage of e-mail and the ISCTE-IUL's e-learning platform.
Basic knowledge of English.
Objectives It is intended that students develop skills for advanced use of spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel or other in open source format, because they are a very useful and powerful tool for all situations that require quantitative analysis.
Program The main issues to be addressed are:
1. Introduction to spreadsheets
2. Model construction
3. Information extraction
4. Introduction to Visual Basic for Applications
Evaluation Method Continuous Assessment:
- Laboratory Practical Tests (30%) - Two laboratorial practical, individual tests that take place during class time. This tests will have a minimum score of 6.
- Project (20%) - A project that must be performed by groups students.
- Individual Test (50%) - The final test comprises a individual written test without consultation. This test will have a minimum score of 8.
Assessment by exam:
The final exam is a written test covering the whole syllabus of the course.
Teaching Method Theoretical and practical Lectures in the laboratory (2 x 1.5 hours per week).
In class will be used the following teaching and learning methodologies (LM):
1. Expositional, to present the theoretical frameworks;
2. Participative, with analysis and resolution of practical exercises;
3. Active, with the execution of individual and group works.
4. Autonomous Work: In addition to attending the classes a student's time of autonomous work of around 9.5 hours a week is expected.
Observations All documentation required to monitor the content taught in the curricular unit is available at ISCTE-IUL e-learning platform, location where will be also published the assessment results.
