Objectives The syllabus of Globalization and Developent Challenges aims to achieve three different objetives :
a) to locate the specific contribution of economic science in addressing the economic aspects of contemporary social issues and whose overall grasp requires the use of interdisciplinary approaches to nature at different territorial scales in analysing the globalisation process;
b) to raise awareness of the challenges facing researchers and professionals involved in the preparation of public action in promoting development at different territorial levels;
c) to perspetive  the process of deepening of some restructuring movements of scientific knowledge in these areas.The course aims at contributing to analyze the processes and situations that involve the need of increased specific development action in contemporary globalising conditions and the need to design possible public manoeuvring spaces in promoting development at different territorial levels.

Evaluation Method The assessment is based on the individual preparation of a short essay. Participants are invited to develop a small individual research project that will take the form of a case study.
The theme will be defined with regard to the work program submitted to the discipline and research projects, or professional, of the participants.
It will require the prior acceptance by the teacher (theme and bibliography).
Teaching Method The course is exposed in three distinct phases:
a) definition of the overarching framework for the theme being addressed;
b) analysis of the contributions of economics;
c) interaction between the participants based on their own critical reflection.
The different phases may involve lectures, case studies and brainstorming open to the whole class or in small groups.
